Axis - User Manual
Axis comprises multiple services, each of which can be configured to serve the needs of the organization.
Axis services consist of six components:
- ο»ΏOrder: Order custom (bespoke) graphics from the art department.ο»Ώ
- ο»ΏNews: News graphic creation.ο»Ώ
- ο»ΏMaps: Map creation.ο»Ώ
- ο»ΏTrack: Asset management and access to third-party external image libraries. Access to third-party libraries requires subscriptions to the external providers (e.g., AP Graphics Bank and Getty Editorial Images).ο»Ώ
- ο»ΏCharts: Chart creation.ο»Ώ
- ο»ΏQuotes: Financial quote graphics creation.ο»Ώ
Axis consists of multiple organizational levels which provide of access to services and functions:
- Chyron System Administrator: Some administration functions are only accessible to a Chyron System Administrator.Β This document may only mention these functions for reference.Β
- Group: The Group is the top-level organization that consists of multiple Stations. Group level administrators manage the Users and Projects at various levels within the Group.Β Β
- Station: A Station lives within the Group.Β Station level administrators manage the Users and Projects within that Station.Β Β
- Department: A Department within a Station, e.g., News, Sports, Sales, Art.
- User: Individual end-user of a service.
Axis easily scales, and is used by large station groups, as well as single stations. For single station clients, the station becomes the top-level organization.
ο»ΏThe following figure shows typical administration hierarchies for multi-station and single-station organizations. It does not show users split out by specific Axis service, with the exception of Limited User, which applies only to Axis Order.ο»Ώ
Axis provides the ability to create users and assign access and privileges to the various services.Β Β
- Administrator: Administrators at the group and station level can manage users, projects and sub-organizations within their organization.Β
- Super User: A user can be assigned as a Super User for a specific service and have special privileges such as creating templates or configuring workflow rules. These privileges vary by service.Β A user may be a super user for one Axis service, but only a user for another Axis service.
- User: The level of access provided to the standard users, typically reporters and producers.Β
- Limited User (Axis Order only): A user with a limited set of user privileges.
- None: A user can be assigned no access to a specific Axis service.
It is important to note that while the Axis administration hierarchy generally flows from the top down, specific users may be granted privileges above their hierarchy level.
For example: User at a station may have access to a project at the organization (group) level.
Administrators can create User Groups to make it easier to assign multiple users to specific projects or tasks.
The Axis Administration interface displays the following tabs. Each tab displays a landing page, and, with the exception of Quotes, access to subpages.
