Video Switching
As indicated in the previous section, with LIVE, you can easily select and play any video source. You may want to cue video to the Preview channel, so that it is ready to switch to the Program channel at any time, or you can play video directly to the Program channel. By default, all transitions to Program (output) are direct cuts, meaning that the video instantly pops into the channel. However, you can specify that you want the video to dissolve on, rather than cut.
Click any source in the multiviewer at the bottom of the interface. This switches this source to LIVEβs Preview channel and places a green border around the source to indicate that it is in Preview. The source now populates the Preview monitor at the top of the interface.
Do one of these:
- Click the Source in the multiviewer a second time.
- Click the Preview monitor.
A red border appears around the source in the multiviewer, confirming that it is in the output.
Double-click the Source in the multiviewer.
In the below example, a double-click on CAM1 places this video source in the Program channel and outlines it in red in the multiviewer. A single click on CAM2 places it in the Preview channel and outlines it in green in the multiviewer.

Before you make the transition, select the Cut or Diss button, located at the right of the multiviewer. By default the transition type is set to Cut.
